Two Ways to Play Melodica

The Melodica is a reed instrument with a mouthpiece, air chamber, and keyboard. It produces sound by exhaling air and features machined internal slots for enhanced airflow to maximize use.

The professional melodica sounds very much like a harmonica but when playing more than one note at a time it can sound very close to an accordion. There are two ways you can play it:

1.Standing performance by using mouthpiece; 2.Sitting performance by using soft extension tube

This instrument seems of good quality. I compared each note with my electronic keyboard and found it to be satisfactorily in tune throughout the range. My main aim is to use this as a practice instrument for learning my piano-accordion, since this melodica is a lot lighter than an accordion. (Having learnt to play the melody on this, I will only have to learn the chords to have mastered the accordion. )

I'm recording a reggae album and I wanted a different melodica than the ones that "everyone" points to. And I wanted a 37. I haven't recorded with it yet but it sounds, surprisingly, really good. I'm sure I'll buy another one and I want to try a few other instruments on the site soon. I would recommend this melodica.

5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Our 12-yr-old daughter ordered this melodica, and it has been played daily! She is a 4th year piano student, and has absolutely loved playing this instrument. She plays piano pieces, marching band pieces, pop music songs, etc. Our 9-yr-old son and 20-yr-old daughter love it, as well, when she gives them a turn with it. It has held up well to daily play, and she has even taken it with her to school, church, friends' houses, etc. Definitely well worth what she paid for it, and a great way to add musical creativity to our kids' daily lives. Highly recommend!

I bought this as a gift for my 9-year-old niece for her birthday. She has just started showing interest in the piano. It's perfect because it is portable, inexpensive, and doesn't need electricity or batteries to work. She is using it mostly on the table while she blows into it with the long hose. I definitely would not recommend getting anything with fewer keys, and I actually wish I could get one with more. But then it might be too hard to blow consistently for a child. The sound quality is what you would expect from this price point. It is a toy after all.

My son asked for this item as a birthday gift. I was pretty skeptical, but he LOVES it. It has a nice sound and has held up to use by a teenager and a toddler for 3 months without any difficulty. I just played the melodica 37 key instrument, and it sounds wonderful! It doesn't take much air, to get sound, and it can be a little loud, but you just blow softer to lower the volume. At first, I thought I was missing the mouthpieces and flex tubes. But they were in a compartment within the bag. Just be sure you look at the entire contents of whichever model you get, to make sure you got everything. I look forward to learning more about playing this instrument.

My mother is one of those people who can pick up just about any instrument and play it by ear. I gave her this as a birthday gift and she was playing songs within minutes. It has good sound and she is having a lot of fun with it.

I'll be honest though, I was unsure of this company, Eastar, as I've never heard of them before, but after looking around some, I figured, eh, why not give them a try. And I don't regret it actually! In any event, it plays fairly well, and the sound is pretty good. It took me a little while to get adjusted to it, but it's not too bad at all really. I probably just have to play it more to "loosen it up," per say. Also, it coming with 2 mouthpieces and 2 pipes, as opposed to my last one was a real treat! The carrying case is quite compact as well, and the straps on it are interesting. And for it's cost, I'd say it is quite worth buying yourself one!

I do a lot of creative projects and always wanted a melodica so I picked this one up. It comes in a carrying bag, has both a tube mouthpiece or a piece directly into the keyboard, depending on your preference. Tone wise it sounds good, like a simple melodica. A bit on the lower side tone wise. Overall a good purchase if you enjoy simple portable instruments.

Some people who are engaged in music professionally demorite this small instrument by evaluating it to their standards, clearly this instrument is not for professional use and I think many of the people who want to buy one of these are not musicians. If you are a beginner and this instrument is nothing more than a whim for you or you just want to spend some time having fun with it I recommend it, I don't know anything about music and buy it for fun and I have to say I'm satisfied.
